What are the enrollment requirements?

All students must be enrolled by a parent or legal guardian and provide the documents outlined below. Students are not allowed to attend class until the school has received all the required documents and proof that your child has received all currently due immunizations.

Required Documents for Enrollment: MUST BE PHOTOCOPIES (as we will keep them on file).

  • Birth Certificate or Passport - Your child must be five years or older on or before September 1 to be eligible for Kindergarten. If they will be turning 5 between September 2 and December 2, 2020, they are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten.
  • Proof of Residency - copy of most recent utility bill, cable bill, tax bill, mortgage document or military housing orders.

  • Kindergarten/Transitional K immunization requirements must be completed before the student can be placed in a classroom - CA Codes section 120325-120380

    • Polio: 4 doses (3 doses OK if at least one was given after the 4th birthday)
    • DTaP: 5 doses (4 doses OK if one was given after 4th birthday. 3 doses OK if one was given after 7th birthday)
    • MMR: 2 doses (both given on or after 1st birthday)
    • Hep B: 3 doses
    • Varicella: 2 doses

If your child's immunization card is updated by your healthcare provider during the summer, please bring a copy of the immunization record to the school office between August 24-28, 2020. What are the eligibility requirements for Transitional Kindergarten?

Children who have their fifth birthday between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2 are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten.

All First Grade Students

Must be at least 6 years old by Sep. 1, unless they have completed a year of public school kindergarten.

Choice Application Window for the 2020/2021 School Year:

The window to submit 2020/2021 School Choice applications with on time priority was October 7 - November 20, 2019. SDUSD will continue to accept applications from new to district families, including military families, as well as families who have recently moved.

When and how will I know that my child is being offered enrollment?

The electronic lottery will be conducted at the end of February 2020. Parents will receive an email notification from the district of their child's application status following the lottery. However if you are waitlisted you can hear as late as the day before school starts. If given a seat at Silver Gate please contact the school office ASAP to confirm your child's enrollment and initiate the registration process 619-222-1139.

Will Silver Gate have the wait lists?

As vacant seats are created by declines, the district office will release names, in order, generated by the Choice lottery process. Wait lists are not released to schools.
